Local artist Virgilio Costa was born in Coimbra where he did his first studies. An impressionist painter, his paintings are a constant celebration of life and colour. He astonishes us with the way he uses his palette knife to create works of art with colours and drawings that reveal a particular energy full of fantasy. His creative imagination mixes with the daily reality of life.
He specialises in street scenes, beaches with typical local boats and crowded with lively people as well as Portuguese harbour scenes. All these show the colour, joy and pleasure of living.
